make your own critter

Every critter in the garden has their own tiny mind. A very small AI, trained with their own moods and habits. I made this page to generate prompt templates that allow Claude Code or Codex to train you a critter model from scratch, so you can have one too. All you need is a computer with a GPU and an AI subscription, non-technical user friendly. Tell the form about what critter you'd like and your computer specs. It'll give you a rough time guess and a finished set of instructions to pass off to your agent and they build the whole thing for you, step by step, explaining as they go with minimal user intervention.

  1. Fill in your critter and your computer specs.
  2. Copy the instructions we make for you.
  3. Paste them into Claude Code or Codex in an empty folder, and say hi.

not sure? try an example:

1 your critter

Describe them the way you'd tell a friend. Short is fine; leave out anything you aren't sure about and your agent will choose.

How do they talk?
Do they remember how you treat them?
Moods they should show (6 at most works best; neutral is always one of them)

2 your computer

Training happens on your own computer, mostly on the graphics card. Not sure? On Windows, open Task Manager → Performance → GPU. On a Mac, Apple menu → About This Mac.

    3 how big a mind

Parameter count: the size of your critter's brain. Larger count = smarter and more coherent, but takes longer to train.

At the end, set up a way to talk to them
    Who writes the practice conversations

your instructions for your coding agent

Copy this, open Claude Code or Codex in a new empty folder, paste it in and press enter. You can read it first, and change anything you like.
